Easter 2013

This Easter marks the third Easter for the twins.  As they have gotten older I'm definitely enjoying how they can participate in the fun activities and traditions that go along with holidays. At Easter last year Kate wasn't walking and even though Matthew was, both didn't understand the idea of what to do in an Easter egg hunt.  This year, the twins had quite the number of egg hunts and loved everyone!
We arrived back in Iowa on Friday afternoon.  Kevin decided to take both Good Friday and the Monday after Easter off.  Those few extra days make a big difference in making our time with family not feel so rushed.  When we arrived on Friday we pretty much unpacked our car and headed outside with the kiddos. (See pictures from previous post, "Ball")  Alleluia for the nice weather which allowed the twins some time to stretch and run off their energy after sitting in the car for the past afternoon.
Saturday morning both Grandparents and the four of us headed up to our town's park for their yearly egg hunt.  The kids were still able to have an outside hunt despite the snowy and soggy ground and the few off and on rain sprinkles.  We bundled Kate and Matt up in winter coats, hat, and their snow boots.  But, Daddy wasn't too sure about the snow boots.  Mr. Competitive was worried the boots wouldn't allow Matthew to run as fast and affect how many eggs he would get.  (That's a Willms for ya!)

And they're off!  Grandpa W. helping Matty

I just love the sight of little ones carrying Easter buckets

"Follow me sis to more eggs!"

Afterwards, the twins played on the playground.

Swinging with Grandma

Riding the alligator together and loving it!

Notice Kate still has her bucket.  She carried it around the rest of the afternoon back at the house.

Katers and Mommy

Afterwards, Mommy and Katers attended at shower in town for my cousin who is getting married this summer.  It was Kate's first shower and she was such a good girl!  The rest of the men in my family were holding down the fort at home taking care of the boys.  Matthew was easy for Kevin and decided to take an early nap right after Kate and I left and then slept until we got back.

Saturday evening, the four of us went to Grandma and Grandpa Willms' house to celebrate Easter with Kevin's side.  Joyce made a new meatloaf and we enjoyed a family dinner with Kevin's aunt and grandparents.  Joyce had eggs hidden around the house for the twins.  Kate and Matt had fun going around the house finding them all.  And it was so cute...every time Matthew would find an egg he would run over to Kate and put it in her bucket.  What a nice guy!  Sorry that I didn't take any pictures of that egg hunt.

Sunday morning my family attended Easter service at our Lutheran church.  The twins and my niece and nephew were amazing kids during service!  Yippee!  After the service they held an egg hunt in the basement for the kids.  It was awesome for us to witness the generosity of the older kids.  So many would either pass up an egg that was near the twins or gladly give up an egg and put it in one of the twins' buckets.  Great to see God's work and love through his children!

After church we tried to take some pictures of all of the grand kids on my side.
It went like this...

The twins were not wanting to cooperate!  They weren't crazy about being held by their cousins.

so we did get the three older boys - Andrew (10), Evan (7), and Kaleb (10)

And we wanted to get a few pictures of cousin Allie and Kate in their matching Easter dresses...
but Kater still didn't want any of it!

Tried to get a few single shots between the tears

Played outside some

Dufel egg hunt - outside even!
Great Aunt B and Jan came over for it, too!

Happy Easter!

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time
