Green Veggies

Today Matt and Kate tried green beans for the first time.

Matt really liked it!  He's doing great at opening his mouth when the spoon starts coming towards him.

Pretty tastey Mommy!

Kate's turn.....

but she's not too sure about it.

I think we're done, mom!

Special Day

Katherine and Matthew wanted to wish their Great (Awesome) Aunt Mary a Happy Birthday!

We love you Aunt Mary and we hope you have a fantastic day!

Katers with the birthday girl!

Matthew loves hanging out with Great Aunt Mary.

I was able to come back to Iowa this week and spend time with our families.  While the kids and I were back we celebrated Awesome Aunt Mary's birthday.  We went over to Grandma and Grandpa Willms' house and had cake and ice cream.  The family was excited to spend time with the twins while we were there.

Making Kate giggle!

August 26th is also a special day for Kevin and me.  A year ago today we had our first ultrasound and found out we were expecting TWINS!  It was the day we officially entered into the parenthood club...times two!

Both of us will never forget the emotions we felt when seeing this first ultrasound picture of our two new-to-be babies.  And now I can't believe these two little ones will turn 6 months old tomorrow!  Time flies when you're having fun! :)

New Tricks

Both Matt and Kate have learned some new tricks.....

  • On Tuesday, Aug. 21st, Kate rolled over from her stomach to her back for the first time.  I don't know if it's just a fluke, but hey, she did roll over!  She also has been kicking her legs more and rolling over to her side.  Miss Katers is finally starting to become more active!

  • Matthew is definitely a wiggle worm.  Like we've said many times before, this kid has to be moving constantly.  Last night when changing his diaper was one of those times.  He just wouldn't stay still - I guess the diaper changing batle starts.  Matthew was trying so hard to wiggle and roll over.  And guess what??  Our little man accomplished it.  He rolled from his back to his tummy!!!  It was an exciting moment.  Matthew's been trying so hard lately to roll over and gets so close.  Now we really have to watch this kid.  Today he's been rolling over to his stomach every time we put him on his back.  I guess he's pretty proud of his new trick too.

  • Giggling!  Both kiddos have recently started to giggle.  This is my favorite trick!  We have so much fun acting like dorks to make them laugh.  Their interactive smiles and giggles are so priceless!

Matthew's Rice Cereal Attempt 1

Tonight I gave Matthew his first bites of rice cereal.  Here are the results....

I can't take my fingers out of my mouth, mom!

Starting to get a messy face.

What's this?

This messy stuff is fun!

And yes, I am kicking my legs like crazy as I am taking each spoon full.  (Always have to be moving)

Got to get my hands in there again.

Messy face + Messy hands + Lots of smiles = Success!

Nothing Better....

than sleeping on daddy wearing only my diaper!

Playin' Outside

This last week we have had awesome summer weather!  In fact, perfect summer weather!  The kids and I were able to take lots of stroller walks and play outside.  It was so nice to not have the humidity...finally!

So happy to be outside.  Matt loves to watch the tree leaves above him move in the wind.

Such a happy little Mister.

Doing some outdoor tummy time

Kate's actually grabbing for a toy!  She usually isn't too interested in holding toys.

Matt loves playing with his apple and elephant rattle.

Good work, buddy!

Close-ups!

Hello!

Must be something pretty cool you're seeing, Katers!

So drooly

Can't stop putting my fingers and fist into my mouth.

How much of my fist can I get in there?

So much fun playing with my twin!

Birthday and ExerSaucer Fun

Yesterday, I turned 28 years old!  I enjoyed my first birthday as a new mommy.  I spent the day hanging out with the twins and my friend Lindsay.  That evening, Kevin was able to leave work earlier than normal so we could go out to eat to celebrate.  I picked Red Lobster - a.) I was craving sea food & b.) it was a nicer restaurant that would be good to take kids.  Kate and Matt were great kiddos and sleep while we ate.

Birthday Picture with Mommy

Taking a picture in the traditional spot where I showed my pregnant belly.

A lot has changed since my last birthday!  I feel very blessed.  Many big prayer requests were answered and some amazing people were brought into my life.  I look forward to the many new adventures in my 28th year.

Today Katherine and Matthew played in their ExerSaucers for the first time.  I think they really enjoyed it...especially Kate.  At one point she was just cooing away at the toys.  She wasn't too interested in trying to play with the toys though.  Her hands stayed at her side - goof ball. :)  Matthew on the other hand was trying to spin around and look at everything and put as much as he could in his hand and mouth.  A lot of the items are still a little hard for them to reach to their mouth yet.  They need to get a little bit bigger still to fit better in the ExerSaucer.

So cool!  I'm such a big girl sitting up in my ExerSaucer all by myself!

Talking to mommy while playing.

Kate's feet can just barely touch.

Matthew's turn!

Look at all of these cool things I can play with!  He's such a curious kid - loves to just look and observe things around him.
