6 Months - Time is flying by!

On August 27, the twins turned 6 months old.  Wow!  A half a year old already.  Where is the time going?  I feel like each morning when I get them out of their cribs they look just a little bit older.  They are moving more and more away from little babies now that they sit up with support, roll over, grab toys, and eat baby food.

Kevin and I are loving this age.  Kate and Matt are so much fun.  We enjoy hearing their laughing and seeing them smile at us acting goofy.  Kevin is enjoying being able to play or roll around with them and especially playing airplane with Matthew.

Got to get those legs kicking, of course!

Such a happy little boy who loves smiling for the camera.  Baby model? ;)

Matthew:

Weight: 15 lbs 11 oz (25th %title)
Height: 27 inches (75th %tile)

Diaper Size: You are wearing size 3.
Clothing Size: You are wearing 6 months but still can fit into some of your 3-6 month clothing.

Sleeping: You are sleeping in your crib in your room.  You will have your last bottle around 7:30-8:00 and then we put you to bed.  You sleep all night and will occasionally wake up and need your paci and then go back to sleep.  A lot of mornings you will wake up around 6-7:00 a.m.  You like sleeping on your side or now your tummy now that you've learned to roll over.  Your dad and I joke that you take after him because of your crazy sleeping positions.  We will put you down facing one end of the crib and you will move yourself throughout the night to the other side.

Eating: You still eat every 3 to 3 1/2 hours 7 oz. at a time.  You've started eating baby food last month.  You've tried: rice and oatmeal cereal, Greek yogurt, green beans, peas, carrots, peaches, and applesauce.  We are surprised at how much you like the vegetables!  Together you and your sister will split a container of baby food twice a day.

Dislikes: You are still a happy, smiley little boy.  You pretty much like everything except for you don't like to fall asleep because you're afraid of missing out on what's happening.  You love being around people.

Favorite Activities: Moving and kicking you legs and smiling!!!  You like to play in your exersaucer and on your playmat.  You also like to try and put anything in your mouth that you can - especially your hands/fingers!  You are teething, but still no teeth yet.  Playing around with daddy and flying around like an airplane.

Nicknames: Matt, Matty, Peanut Head (from Great Aunt Mary), Auto-Matt-ic, Matt Man, Wiggles

Talking: You've started this cool thing of talking to your hand.  If you're really babbling loudly we could guess you are talking to your hand.  You also babble to yourself as you are drifting off to sleep.  Your talking slowly starts to fade away as your fall asleep.  It's fun to have conversations with you and you babble back to us like you're answering our questions.  You make sounds that sound like "hi", "hey", and "yeah".

New Adventures: You and Kate traveled back to Iowa over Labor Day weekend and went to cousin Jordan and Tonya's wedding.  Grandma and Grandpa Willms babysat you the night of the wedding because mommy and daddy stay later.  You traveled back to Iowa with mommy and grandma and grandpa Dufel the end of August and stopped at Cabela's. (Your grandpas' favorite store - pictures to come.)

New Skills: You can now roll onto your stomach!  But you get frustrated because you've forgotten how to roll back onto your back.  You can sit up with support and occasionally can sit for a short time by yourself.  You're grabbing toys with both hands and putting them in your mouth to chew on.  You've discovered your toes and love to grab them when we change your diaper.

Laughing at Daddy trying to make me smile for these silly pictures for mommy.

Always putting my hands in my mouth.

Katherine:

Weight: 18 lbs 4 oz (90th %tile)
Height: 27 inches (90th %tile)

Diaper Size: You are wearing size 3.
Clothing Size: Some 6 months and now 6-9 months.

Sleeping:  You are a sleeping rock star Katers!  We will feed you around 7:30-8:00 p.m. and then put you to bed.  You will sleep through the night and wake up the next morning around 7:30-8:00 a.m.  Once in awhile you might need your paci put back in during the night.  You sleep in your back and don't move around when you sleep.  When we put you to bed you listen to the "cradle" music on your sound machine.  You love to have a blanket on both sides of you for you to snuggle your face into and feel with your hands.
Together you and your brother will split a container of baby food twice a day.

Dislikes: You still don't like it when we take away your bottle to burp you or being on your tummy too long.

Favorite Activities: You like it when we talk to you.  You've started to feel our faces and then babble to us.  You also like the exersaucer and sitting in your bouncy seat in the kitchen while I'm cooking/doing dishes.  You still like your swing, but you are very close to out growing it.  What's mom going to do without her lifesaver swing?

Nicknames: Kate, Katers, Katester, Pumpkin Head (from Great Aunt Mary), Hamball, Kater-Gator

Talking: You like babbling while putting your fingers in your mouth or while feeling faces.  (That sounds weird, Kate)  When you wake up in the morning you like to babble in your crib for awhile before we come and get you.  You love, love, love making farting sounds.  You do it when you're happy and when you're getting mad.  You make sounds that sound like "hi", "hey", and "yeah".

New Adventures: You and Matthew traveled back to Iowa over Labor Day weekend and went to cousin Jordan and Tonya's wedding. Grandma and Grandpa Willms babysat you the night of the wedding because mommy and daddy stay later. You traveled back to Iowa with mommy and grandma and grandpa Dufel the end of August and stopped at Cabela's. (Your grandpass favorite store - pictures to come.)

New Skills: You can sit up with support.  You rolled from your tummy to your back, but don't do it often.  You are moving a lot more now and like to roll to your side.  I guess your loud farting sound is a new skill!  You are grabbing toys with both hands and putting them in your mouth.  We've nicknamed your Kater-Gator because you love to chomp down on our fingers or paci.  We get a good laugh at you "attacking"!

Hanging with my twin

The pictures together didn't go as well.  Kate was too interested in Matt's hand than looking or smiling at the camera.

I want to hold you hand brother.

And now we've hit our limit sitting in the chair!

Look at my chubby, cute legs. :)

 Kate loves standing up.

Moving over to my tummy.  You can't stop this guy.  All he wants to do it roll over, but then he's forgotten how to roll back over to his back.  He'll get mad until someone helps him.
